A Prayer for Eating Food

“The nature of myself, the deity to be meditated upon,
and all phenomena are in essence of one taste of emptiness.”

(Avalokiteshvara Sutra, as taught by HH Dalai Lama)

In this season of temptation and indulgence it is appropriate to loosen the controls over our eating patterns. Subsequently, it is easy to find fault with ourselves for doing so. Remember, mindfulness and intention make all the difference in how we experience our lives. Hunger and restraint are no more noble than comfort and satiety. Whatever you choose, you are worthy.

Blessings for a conscious and joyful holiday season!
With Love, Diana

A Prayer for Eating Food

I offer this food to the goddess
it kisses my tongue and slides into my belly
a thief in the dark, stealing my emptiness

I long to be empty but crave to be full
I surrender my emptiness, and pray

the goddess is full and the goddess is empty
her fullness is holy, her emptiness holy

full or empty, I am holy, too

I am holy when remembering my soul
I am holy when abandoned in desire

I offer this food to the goddess
I feed my desire with sweet prayers
